Indian Wells Welcomes a New Building Inspector/Code Compliance Officer

Wes Remaklus has been hired in the role of Building Inspector/Code Compliance Officer for the City of Indian Wells Public Works Department effective August 5, 2019. Remaklus comes to Indian Wells after spending more than four years as a Building Inspector, Plan Checker and Permit Technician for the City of Palm Springs. Prior to his work in Palm Springs, he worked in the construction industry for 15 years.

“While working for the City of Palm Springs, I was able to acquire my Commercial Building, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical certifications as well as Building Plans Examiner and Accessibility Plans Examiner/Inspector,” explained Remaklus. “Aside from field inspections, I also became well versed in the administrative aspects of the building department and development services. I’m excited to bring my experience and knowledge to the City of Indian Wells and to become a vital part of the community development team.”

In his new role, Remaklus will be responsible for supporting the City’s local enforcement program, monitoring and enforcing a variety of ordinances and codes and serve as a resource for the public on information regarding City regulations. 

When not working, Remaklus enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs, doing projects around their home and riding and restoring motorcycles. He’s currently enrolled at the College of the Desert to acquire his Associate’s Degree in Construction Management and plans to continue his education and receive his Bachelor’s Degree.
